Summer in the City

As if I weren't already ecstatic to be spending the summer in New York City, it is finally confirmed that one of my nearest and dearest friends will be coming with me for her own internship. I can't help but dream of the Magnolia cupcakes, the outdoor cafes, shopping in the Village, strolls in Central Park, and all the other hundreds of reasons why New York city will always be my first love.

As we are both French culture aficionados, i'm sure we'll make our way to a place as lovely as the one pictured above. Isn't that one of the most fantastic things about a place like New York? There is culture and life everywhere, never a dull day if you don't want it to be.

Things I wish I had when I was a kid.

1.) Crayola Colored bubbles!

2.) Dr. Seuss' soon-to-be-published-long-lost-book!

3.) The upcoming Winnie the Pooh movie! He was my favorite cartoon.

With only 3 weeks before Graduation and the dreaded entry into the real world, I miss being a kid.

Rainy day read.

It's absolutely pouring outside which means I am in dire need of indoor activities. This month's Matchbook Magazine is out and I love this issue! They have this fantastic piece on 10 things to do for under $1 (and most of them are indoor friendly!). My favorite on is to make a wish for the cost of a penny. How cute!

"Well, isn't this how it should be?"

Tonight, I went to my Professor's house for dinner with a few other students from class. I'd never gotten to do that until today but had always hoped I would. I obviously don't have a picture of his house but the above is the closest I could get to it, isn't is beautiful? His property sits on 9 acres and it feels like he ripped a page out of a vacation home catalog and decided that's where he'd live. It made me re-consider some of the items on my home wish list when the time comes.
He made dinner from scratch, nothing frozen like I resort to sometimes! He seared salmon and made a pasta dish with olive oil, rosemary, onions, and cherry tomatoes. We set the table, had flowers, candles, great music, soft lighting, the whole shebang. When I commented on how lovely dinner was and when was the last time there were flowers and candles on the dinner table he said, "Well, isn't this how it should be?" What a fantastic idea. Dinner isn't just meal time, it's an experience you create.
The food was amazing, and what good meal ends without dessert? Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Pear Preservatives and Almond Biscotti. None of which i'd normally consider dessert since it wasn't chocolate but it was delicious. Get-into-the-bottom-of-the-bowl delicious. What a fantastic night!
